I cannot remember a time in my life that a dog has not been part of it. I grew up in a dog loving family and have had many different breeds including a Doberman Pincher, a Samoyed, a boxer, 3 small bichons, 3 Bulldogs and 2 Pit Bulls. My first rescue pittie ignited a passion and for the last 10+ years I have been heavily involved in the dog rescue world, specifically with the bully breeds.
My soul puppy came to me in the form of a rescue bulldog who was fearful reactive with dogs and people. He inspired me to learn more about dog training and in our journey, we both learned the importance of the human-canine bond through science based and cognitive learning theory.
I hold my Bachelor of Management Degree and completed a 2-year apprenticeship program through Impawsible Possible. I continue to take numerous courses and attend seminars to expand my knowledge in the areas of behaviorism, social learning models, and cognitive and developmental psychology. In addition, I sit on the board for the Alberta Force Free Alliance which is committed to improving the lives of pets and their people through force free handling and training methods.
